Photo shoot Q & A

Photo shoot Q & A

Here are some tips on how to prepare for your photo shoot

and what to expect after at Main Street Portrait Studios.

1. Hair and Makeup;
If you are doing your own hair and makeup be sure to use a matt foundation. It
has less shine. Makeup should be applied a little heavier than normal and any
color of lipstick is better than no color at all. Using a matt lipstick is also preferable.
Avoid using glitter unless it is very fine because glitter can appear as dead pixels or hot spots.

Is your hair color treated?
If so, touch up those roots. If I am doing your hair and makeup, come with a clean face and clean hair. I use photo ready airbrush makeup. It is 100% of water based and will not harm your skin. It will last 24 hours and will not rub off on your clothes. I use strip eyelashes that vary in style. Hair and makeup usually takes an hour and ½ so allow for that in your photo shoot schedule
time. If your hair is long it will take more time. You are welcome to send me an e-mail or face book me with a photo of you and some styles you like for me to imitate. That way I can have things set up ahead of time for you . Remember, this photo shoot is all about you.

2. What To Bring; you will have time for three clothing changes. You can bring more outfits if you have trouble deciding, I can help you with that. Bring shoes and accessories if you prefer to use shoes and accessories I have at the studio that is also fine with me. There is a $35 Wardrobe fee that allows you all of the privileges of access to shoes from size 5 to 11, jewelry, lingerie, boas, hats, etc. Please be sure your outfits are pressed if needed. Nothing is worse than wrinkled clothes/ lingerie etc.
If you want to purchase items for your photo shoot we exclusively recommend the best! Mention you are doing a boudoir shoot with me at Dr. John’s to get 25% off your purchase. If you are in the Ogden area go see Mary at Dr. John’s, she will FIX YOU UP!!!

(More to come about this, we are still working out the details.)

3. What about posing? Don’t worry, we will make you look like a celebrity!
Here are some tricks you can try.

No. 1: Lean head forward slightly to minimize any appearance of a double chin.
No. 2: Turn slightly sideways to the camera, planting one foot in front of
the other. Point your toe to the camera and place your weight on your back foot.
No. 3: Pull shoulders back, chest forward and gently suck stomach in. Be
careful not to suck stomach so far in that your ribs show, thereby causing those
who later see the photo to cluck to themselves in a bemused, sing-song voice,
“She’s sucking it-in.”
No. 4: Hold arms slightly away from your body. This keeps upper arm flab
from flattening out and therefore appearing flabbier (much like thighs do when
one sits on a couch).
No. 5: If you can get away with it without looking like a Sports Illustrated
Swimsuit Cover Girl wannabe, try the look away trick. To do this, look
away from the camera, then turn towards it, breaking into a smile just before
the camera clicks. Your smile will appear fresh, not frozen. This trick takes
practice behind closed, locked doors.

When taking a photo it’s also important the photographer does not take
the picture from below. This adds another 20-50 pounds to the 10 pounds
automatically and annoying added by the camera.

4. Are Your Photos Shared? Not unless you want them to be!
You will be the only one besides me that knows your secret
password.

5. Can I pick out my images? Yes, absolutely

6. Will all of the images be airbrushed?
Yes

7. Do I get to choose the image I want printed from
my deal? Yes, absolutely

8. Who do you recommend to print my images? We exclusively
recommend the best quality photo Lab in town!

Nichol’s Photo Lab

9. Can I have smaller prints rather than one large one?
This offer is for one specified size print only, however, smaller prints can be ordered separately.

10. How long does it take to get my pictures?
It takes about 3 to 5 working days to create your gallery. Then once you choose your images,
they are usually sent out in the next day or two via your e-mail. And it only takes a day or two to get the prints you select from those images. Larger Prints often get destroyed in the mail
so we ask that you pick them up at the studio if possible when they are ready. However ,
special arrangements can be made if you are living out of the area or out of state. Shipping and handling charges will apply.

11. Can I purchase extra pictures?
Yes, absolutely. If purchased separately, each image cost $30.00.
However if you purchase the entire desk usually about 100 photos it cost
$499. I offer a discount with this package depending on the number of photos taken in your session, you can’t beat
as little as $250. If you purchase the CD I also include a set of black and white images and a slide show put to
music, and you get to pick out your favorite song to use in the slide
show.

12. Can I upgrade my print to a gallery wrapped canvas?
Yes, a gallery wrap canvas is an eye-opening way to display your art. I will quote you a price when I know
what size you are interested in.
